St. John's and GoodSearch
St. John's is now registered with GoodSearch and Goodshop,
the new search engine and online marketplace shopping tool with a social mission

What is GoodSearch and how will it affect St. John's?
St Johns Episcopal Church - Chews Landing, has just been registered for GoodSearch and GoodShop. Imagine a company that uses technology to help raise funds for more than thousands of nonprofits, charities, religious organizations and schools — which is just what GoodSearch does. Our parish members and friends can raise money for St. John's by using GoodSearch to search the internet and GoodShop to make online purchases.
The idea behind this excellent search engine (powered by Yahoo) is simple and brilliant — 50% of all ad revenue generated from the site is donated to the charity of the user's choice, and the money GoodSearch donates comes from its advertisers, so it doesn't cost our parish members or the church a penny. When you use GoodSearch, you get the same great search results, but each time you do a search, GoodSearch.com makes a donation to St. John's.
GoodShop.com is the new online marketplace that will donate a percentage of your online purchase to St. John's. You can choose from hundreds of popular online merchants and the experience of shopping through GoodShop is the same as going to the retailer directly. You do not pay more for the merchandise, but you ensure that a percentage of your purchase is given to our church.
How do I get started?
The first time you go on the GoodSearch site, you designate your favorite charity or school. It's easy to use— just go to GoodSearch.com, enter St. John's Episcopal Church - Chews Landing in the provided field, and search. Then, every time you search, money will go to St. John's (without you ever spending a dime!). You can ask your family members, friends and neighbors to specify St. John's when you use GoodSearch or GoodShop, too.
What else could I do to help?
Make GoodSearch your home page!
This way every time you start your web browser GoodSearch will automatically load and be the first site you see. Plus, no matter where you are on the web, you can always click your browser's home button and return to GoodSearch instantly. Directions for several major browsers are below:
Microsoft Internet Explorer users:
Select Tools | Internet Options.
Select the General tab.
In the Address textbox, type http://www.goodsearch.com.
Click OK.
Netscape Navigator users:
Select Edit |Preferences.
Select the Navigator category on the left side.
In the Location textbox, type http://www.goodsearch.com.
Click OK.
Firefox users:
Select Tools | Options
Select the General tab.
In the Location textbox, type http://www.goodsearch.com.
Click OK.
That's it! Now GoodSearch will be your browser's homepage.
Are there any limits to the number of searches I can make?
Actually, there is only one limitation. Please do not use GoodShop.com unless you really are doing a legitimate search. As the site makes clear, you must use GoodSearch honestly — because, if you use it for numerous random searches, St. John's will be disqualified.
Look for the GoodSearch icon on every page of this site — and happy searching/shopping!
